3. Grammar: Revise the verb tenses.
4. Language use: the students are got involved in listening, speaking, reading and writing practice to improve their language use abilities.
5. Aesthetics education: after learning this unit, the students are encouraged to know something more about gymnastics and do some more exercise to build up their health.
Ⅱ. Time arrangement:
This unit is going to be finished in 7 teaching periods, including a unit test and a supplementary listening test.

Lesson 33
Ⅰ. Teaching objectives and demands:
1. Students are supposed to master and use the everyday English for communication (doctor & patient)

2. Language use: Manipulate listening, speaking practice for the students to use the language.
Ⅱ. Teaching aids: tape recorder; slide show; picture show
Ⅲ. Key points:
1. Dialogue presentation
2. Daily expressions in communication
3. Learn the expressions used in a restaurant
Ⅳ. Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Revision
(1) Check the homework exercises of the previous unit.
(2) Revise the expressions of used between the doctor and the patients.
Step 2. Presentation
SB Page 49, Part 1. Tell the students that we are going to learn a dialogue between Sharon and her doctor.
Step 3. Listening
Now listen to the dialogue and answer the questions on Wb P105, Ex.1. Pick out some ss to answer the questions.
Step 4. Reading and explanations
Now get the students to read the dialogue in pairs and underline the difficulties and the key points that they think. Explain some of the language difficulties if any and if necessary.
Step 5. Practice
SB P49, Part 2. Tell the students this part is compiled to practice the most commonly used expressions between the doctor and the patient. Tell the students to work in pairs to match the two parts to form a short dialogue. After they have finished, get some pairs to read their answers to the rest of the class.
Step 6. Workbook
Workbook Lesson 33, Exx.3~3. Get the students to do the exercises individually and then check the answers with the students.
Answers: See Wb P105.
Homework
(1) Finish off the exercises of Lesson 33 in the workbook.
(2) Preview the next lesson.

Lesson 34 Gymnastics

Ⅰ. Teaching aims:
1. After learning the text, the students are required to master the following words and useful expressions: gymnastics; gymnast; gym; bar; fortunate; supermarket; box; ache; Greek; Berlin; body-building; Sweden; require; aim; balance; backwards; kindergarten; physical; fully; neatly; steady; keep one’s balance; handstand; beam; inch; mat; trainer
2. Revise the grammar: revise the tenses
3. Get the students to read the text using the following reading skills: skimming scanning and note taking.

Ⅲ. Teaching methods: Reading: skimming scanning and note taking.
Ⅳ. Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Revision
(1) Check the homework exercises.
(2) Revise the key points of Lesson 33.
Step 2. Pre-reading discussion
Get the students to talk about the topic in groups of four or five: “How do you know about gymnastics?”

Step 3. Skimming
Now get the students to read the text and answer the following questions:
① What do gymnasts have to do in gymnastics completions?
② Why do girls perform in gymnastics competitions earlier than boys?
Step 4. Scanning
Now get the students to read the text and decide the statements are true or false on Wb P106, Ex.1. Answer the questions with the class. Answers: See Wb P106.
Step 5. Note making
SBP51, Part 3, tell the students to read the text more carefully to find out the specific information. The ss are told to find out the relevant information to fill in the box. After they have finished the work, get some students to yell out their answers to the rest of the class.

(2) clothing(衣服的总称) ; clothes(具体的衣服) ; cloth (布,布料)
e.g. My father always bought me some pretty clothes before the Spring Festival .
Clothing, food, living and walking are the four basic living elements for a common person.
What I want to do is to find a piece of cloth to clean the table dirtied by my naughty cousin.
The tablecloth is made of plastics, so it is very cheap.
(3) be delighted to : be very happy to
e.g. He will be very delighted to hear the news that the flood has been under the public’s control .
To his delight, the flood has been controlled by the public safely .
(4) be used to doing (习惯于…)
be used to do (…被用来做…)
e.g. He has been used to getting up early for a long time .
Such kind of material can be used to make paper, the best quality-paper.
(5) be content to do : be satisfied to do
e.g. He would be well content to be chosen to be the chairman of the organization , for he really wanted to do sth beneficial to everyone .
Only those who are easily content (satisfied) can live a long and happy life.
Step 7. Study
SB P51, Part 4. Get the students to study the “you; yourself; your” in the text, which can be used impersonally. Tell them to find out all the examples in the text.
Step 8. Workbook
Get the students to do the wb exercises individually and then check the answers with the class. Answers: See Wb P106.
Homework
(1) Finish off the exercises of Lesson 34 in the workbook.
(2) Revise the key points of this lesson.

Lesson 35 A gymnastic competition
I. Teaching objectives (the students are supposed to master the following items and conduct the following practices):

2. Grammar: Revise the agreement
3. Reading practice: reading and discussion and grammar practice

Ⅳ.Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Revision
(1) Check the homework exercises.
(2) Revise the key points of the previous lesson.
Step 2. Presentation
Tell the students that this lesson is about Zhou Lan’s performance in a gymnastics competition.
Step 3. Scanning
Tell the students to read the text carefully and answer the questions on the workbook P106, Ex.1. They are expected to grasp the important information of the text. Do orally with the class. Answers: See Wb P106. (Note: this part requires the ss to organize the sentences first and then answer the questions.)
Step 4. Language points
Tell the students to read the text and underline the language points. Talk about the language difficulties with the students if any.
Step 5. Practice---- grammar revision
SB P52~53, Part 2~5, Tell the students to do the exercises about the agreement of the subject with the predicate.
Step 6. Workbook
Workbook Lesson 35, Ex. 2~3. Get the students to do the exercises and then check the answers with the students if time permits.
Homework
(1) Finish off the exercises of Lesson 35 in the workbook.
(2) Revise the grammar of the agreement of the subject with the predicate.

Ⅳ. Teaching procedures
Step 1. Revision
(1) Check the homework exercises.
(2) Revise the previous two lessons about gymnastics.
Step 2. Listening
(1) Pre-listening: Tell the students turn to Page 141 and read the instructions to get a gist of the listening passage.
(2) While-listening:
① Play the tape for the students to answer the questions. ② Check the answers with the students.
(3) Post listening activity: get the students to talk about the listening passage.
Step 3. Checkpoints
Go through Checkpoint 9 with the students. Get the students to make up sentences using the useful expressions if time permits.
Step 4. Word study
SB P54, Part 2. Read the instructions and get students to fill the blanks with an appropriate word from the box. Check the answers with the class. Answers: See P54.
Step 5. Writing
SB P54, Part 3. Read the instructions and tell the students to develop a paragraph using the information given below. Assign the work as their homework.
Step 6. Workbook
Workbook Lesson 36. Ex. 1~3. Get the students to do the exercises and then check the answers with the students. Answers: See Wb P108.
Homework
(1) Finish off the wb exercises of Lesson 28.
(2) Revise the key points of this unit.
(3) Writing: See Step 5.
