Step Ⅰ. Revision
Review words and expressions in this unit
Step Ⅱ. Warming up
Raise SS’ awareness that there are some well-known cultural relics both at home and abroad. Ask the Ss to name some cultural relics. After a short discussion, show the following cultural relics: (pictures in PowerPoint)
1. Mount Taishan
2. Mount Huangshan
3. The Great Wall
4. The Imperial Palace of the Ming and Ding Dynasties in Beijing and Shenzhen
5. The Mogao Caves
6. The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors
7. The Peking Man site at Zhoukoudian
8. The Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area
9. Historic Ensemble of the Potala Palace,Lhasa
10. The Classical Gardens of Suzhou
11. The old Town of Lijang
12. The Summer Palace
13. The pyramids in Egypt
14. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
15. The Amber Room
Step Ⅲ. Pre-reading
Leading-in
T: OK, class, do you think these cultural relics beautiful?
SS: yes.
T: suppose one of them got lost , how would you feel and what will you do with it?
(Have a short discussion)
T: (show the picture of the Amber Room again) Mow, I’m sorry to tell you that the Amber Room is now missing. And how did it get lost? Now read the text quickly and let’s get more details.

Play the tape for the Ss, they can read after it or just listen to it, then finish exercise I in comprehending.(SB. Page 2)

教后记：这是一节阅读理解课，目的在于通过对课文的理解（寻找琥珀屋），使学生展开讨论：如何保护世界文化遗产。这一节课的设计能根据学生的实际，从热身，读前，到读中。阅读理解问题的设计能帮助学生充分地，而且较容易地理解课文。不足的地方是指导学生展开讨论部分。只给出两个问题，学生就此讨论难度太大，以致讨论不够热烈，也没达到目的。应多给出具体情景。
