Time:May 17th,2011 Period:Two period Class:Class Two, Grade Seven I.Teaching Aims: A.Knowledge aims: 1.(1)Learn the new words about seasons: (2)Learn other new words: weather, warm, season, hot, cold, rain, snow, ground 2.Learn how to describe the weather. --What’s the weather like in spring? --It’s warm. --How is the weather in fall? --It’s cool. When it snows, the ground is all white and I can make snowmen. --Which season do you like best, spring, summer, fall or winter? --I liked winter before, but now I like summer best. B.Ability aims: Learn to use superlative forms to express preference about seasons. --Which season do you like best, spring, summer, fall or winter? --I liked winter before, but now I like summer best..... C.Emotion aims: 1) Learn how to talk about the seasons,ask and describe the weather. 2) Help students feel the colorful life and cultivate their passion towards life. II. Teaching important points: 1) Learn the new words about the colors and be able to use the key sentence to ask the colors. 2) Help them be brave to use superlative forms to express their preference about seasons. III.Teaching difficult points: How to help the student grasp the new words quickly , be able to use superlative forms and explain why. 1) Task-based Teaching Approach. 2) The Communicative Approach. 3) Five-finger Teaching Plan V. Leaning methods: 1. Task-based Language Teaching approach. 2. Ask-and-answer method. VI. Teaching aids: Color-pens, pictures, ppt and so on. VII. Teaching procedures: Step1 Review 1.Show the English song The Four Seasons and organization as usual. 2.Have a group competition to review the important sentences in last unit. Let the students do the Quick Response activity. (Divide the whole class into four groups .Give them ten key words and ask some questions about them. The group which answer the most questions will get some points.) Step2 Presentation 1.Ask and answer between the teacher and the students.Lead to the new topic of this unit. T: Kangkang had a wonderful party last Wednesday. Do you remember when Kangkang was born? Ss: He was born in May. T: You are right.I can also say he was born in spring. Do you know what's the meaning of it?Look at here (Show the ppt),maybe you'll get it. S:...... T:Yes ,they are the four seasons. Can you tell me how many seasons there are in a year? Ss:...... T:Good, they are spring,summer,fall and winter.Now please read after me and then I'll ask some of you to read loudly in the class. 2.Show some pictures about the seasons ,weather,activity and teach the new words snow,ground,cold ,make snowmen... 1)T:What season is it?/ What can we do in...? Ss:.... T: Yes, it's snow.We can see there is so much snow on the ground. What does it mean?...When it snows,the ground is all white.... And what can we do with so many snow? 2)Show the fourth picture and lead to the new sentence patterns. T:It's spring, there are so many beautiful flowers ,so what's the weather like in spring? Ss:It's warm.(help them answer)... 3)Ask and answer between the teacher and the students to practice the new Learn the new phrases: It's a good season/time to (for) ... Step 3 Consolidation 1.Let students listen to 1a and match the seasons with the weather and activities.Then check the answers with the students. 2.Show the ppt to review the language points learnt just now.Give them some time to keep in mind then lead them to do pair work (use the pictures and key words to retell the dialogues in 1a with their deskmates.)Ask some of them to present in the class. 3.Ask and answer about their favourite seasons ,lead to another important sentences in this section. T:Ok, all of you have done very well.Now I have a question.That is the four seasons , what's your favourite season?Or I can ask in another way ' which season do you like best?.... Why do you like it?......' 4.Listen and complete the table in 2.Then check the answers with the students.Listen to the tape and find the right answers to the questions: 1).What's Jane's favorite season? Why?... 2).What's Kangkang's favorite season? Why?.... Step 4 Practice 1. Let students listen to 3a and answer the following questions Which season does Kangkang and Jane like best? And why? 2. Listen 3a once again and ask them to read after it. Explain It's hard to say. T: Good job. Now, listen to the tape again and read after it. Then I’ll ask some students to act out the dialog. 3.Pair-work.Look at the four pictures of seasons and Lead the students to make similar conversations in 3b.If there is enough time ask some groups to present in the class. T: Look at the pictures. Work in pairs and practice like this: S1: Which season do you like best? S2: I like…best. S1: Why do you like…? S2: Because it’s a good time … Step 5 Project 1. (小组活动。把全班分成四组, 在两分钟内说出可以描述四个季节的句子。在限定时间内, 说出句子最多的组获胜。) T: Now, I’ll divide you into four groups. Please say the sentences that can describe four seasons in two minutes, and the group that says the most sentences is the winner. Example: G1: Spring is warm. It’s a good season for flying kites … G2: We can go swimming in summer… 2.Homework: T:Recite the dialogue and write a small composition about the four seasons.
