Step 1. Duty report:
Step 2. Presentation:
1).Deal with Picture puzzle in Part 2 of L37 and learn some names of sports.
T reads out eight sentences and let Ss guess which picture they are talking about. T tells them the new names of sports if they don’t know.
2). Introduce them more words which refer to sports.
volleyball, tennis, tabletennis, baseball, badminton, golf, skating, hunting, fishing, skiing, boxing, billiards, gymnastics, handball, hiking, diving, hocking, mountaineering, fencing, bowling,
captain, referee(裁判)
3).Ask Ss “Which sport do you prefer?”
Step 3. Learn the dialogue:
1). Ss listen to the tape (books shut)
Questions: Which sport does A prefer? (horseriding)
What about B?
2). Ss listen and report( books closed)
3). Ss read the dialogue in pairs.
Step 4. Language points:
1).prefer…to…= like …better than
He prefers swimming to riding as a sport.
prefer to do ---May I come with you? ---I’d prefer to go alone.
prefer +n. ---Would you like meat or fish? ---I’d prefer meat, please.
2).exciting: making you full of happy interest.
It’s really exciting news.
Excited: It refers to people’s strong feeling. It can’t be used as an attribute
Paul was excited about his first trip in an airplane.
More words like this: interesting---interested moving---moved surprising---surprised satisfying---satisfied pleasing---pleased disappointing—disappointed

The following questions can be used.
What is this picture? The badge of Beijing Olympic Games.
What does it look like ? A person is doing Taichi. It stands for a truelove knot.
How many rings are there in the picture? Five.
Why do they have different colours? They refer to different continents.
What do they refer to? The red one stands for America. Green stands for Oceania. Yellow stands for Asia. Black stands for Africa. Blue stands for Europe.
Why do they join together? It expresses the friendship between the people all over the world.
Step 3. Ss listen to the text once or twice while reading the True of False questions on Page 103 in Wb. And then tell the answers.
Step 4. Ss read the text carefully.
Step 5. Discuss the follow numbers in Groups.
