Unit4 I used to be afraid of the dark The second period (3a--3c) Teacher : Shen Guangkun Time :2014-10-15 Place Class 3 Grade 9 Teaching aims 1 . Master the use of used to Teaching tools Tape recorder ,multi media Teaching procedure Step 1 warm up 1、 基础单词 1. 幽默的,有幽默感的 2. 沉默的,安静的 3. 有益的,有帮助的 4. 得分,进球 2、 核心短语 1.from time to time 2.be afraid of the dark 3. used to be short used to have long curly hair 4.on the soccer team Step 2 lead in new words Background, interview, Asian, deal ,deal with, shyness, dare, crowd, ton (pl), private, guard, require 3. Review Use”used to”and “but now” to describe the following pictures Lind in2 Look at the pictures, find the difference, and try to describe them. Step 3 Presentation Activity 3a Before you read Look at the photo, the questions in 3a and the title to the story on page 27. Then answer the questions below. 1. Who is the young girl in the picture? 2. What does the passage talk about? Read the article and identify the paragraphs in which the following information appears. Number the information [1-3] While you read Read paragraph 1 and fill in the blanks Read paragraph 2 and fill in the blanks Read the last part and answer the following questions Step 4 Practice Activity 3b Lead students to read the instuction to know how to do this activity. Ask students to read the passage again to complete the sentences with the information from the article. Give them several minutes to finish this work individually. Later invite five students to check the answers. Step 5 Consolidation Activity 3c Divide students into pairs to make conversations to talk about Candy Wang’s changes. One acts as the interviewer, the other one plays the role of Candy. After you read What did you use to do when were you younger? What do you do now? Fill in the chart. Then talk with your classmates about how you have changed. Step 6 Summary In this perriod, we mainly learned how to talk about the changes about someone’s appearance and personality through an article. Meanwhile , we also learned some key words and strctures. Step 7 Homework 1. Finish the exercises in the workbook 2. Preview the next period. |
