keep在英语中看似微不足道，内容却丰富多彩。
1． keep 有“保持, 使”之意。如：keep clean保持干净, keep quiet保持安静，keep
sb. happy使某人开心。
2． keep有“保存，保留”的意思。如：
I have kept the book for two weeks.这本书我保存两星期了。
He keeps a stick in his hand.他手里拿着根拐杖。
3． keep有“履行，遵守”之意。如：履行诺言keep one’s promise.
keep链接短语有：
1. keep doing sth. 多表示某个动作连续不断地进行，之间无停顿，或
者之后接表示静态意义的动词，如：sit, sleep, stand, wait 等。如：
He kept sitting there for half an hour without moving.
他一动不动地在那儿坐了半小时。
2. keep on doing sth. 表示经过一段时间的间隙后“继续做同一件
事”，或后接表示动态含义的动词，如walk, write, talk
等，还暗指不顾困难，反对，警告而“坚持”做某事。如：
I kept on thinking of the match this afternoon in class.
上课时，我不时地想起下午的比赛。
3. keep sb. doing sth. 意为“使某人出于某种状态”。如：
Don’t keep him waiting too long.
不要让他等太久。
4. keep away from远离……如:
We should keep away from SARS and keep healthy.
我们应该远离非典,保持健康.
5.keep up with 赶上,跟上, 不落后
We should keep up with others, or we’ll fall behind.
我们要跟上别人,否则会落后的。
6．keep off 避开，不让接近
They hold an umbrella to keep off the rain.
他们打着伞避雨。
7．keep an eye on注意，监视
Don’t keep an eye on others. It’s impolite.
不要监视别人，那是不礼貌的。
