一、 Teaching aims and demands
(一)、New language items:
Four skills: ring up, west, radio, report, north, south, temperature,
above,below,
Three skills: strange, sunshine, melon, at times, northeast, daytime,
northwest
(二)、Important and difficult points:
Get the students to read the text carefully. Make the students know
how to read and learn , how to use the following expressions and how
to use the Simple Future Tense:
ring up , in the west, have a great time, radio report, at times , to the
north of, in the daytime, the high temperature,

三、 Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Everyday English
What is the weather like today?
Step 2 Revision
Give a telephone to a student and ring him up:
T: Hello, this is Mr Weng.May I speak to __________?
S: (Hello,this is ______ speaking.)
T: What’s the weather like in Duozhu now?
S: ( It’s sunny, but it’s very cold .)
T: What are you going to do on Sunday?
S: ( I’m going to … )
T: Have a good time.
S: (Thanks….)
T: Bye.
S: Bye.
T: There will be a telephone call here . Would you like to know what they
will talk about? (We’d love to.) Now look at the slide and listen to the
tape.Then answer the questions on the slide.( Show the pictures about the
telephone call on the slide . Speech Cassette Lesson46,play the tape for
the students to listen and answer the questions below: )
1) Is Bruce in Beijing?
2) Is it cold in the morning and warm at noon in Xingiiang?
Step 3 New words and expressions
T: There are some new words and expressions in the dialogue. Do you
know?
Show the pictures about the new words on the slide one by one . or show them
the realia , or play the tape for the students, and get them to listen to the tape and then find out the meaning for new words. Then write them down on the blackboard. Get the students to read them together at last.
ring , ring up , north , south , west , east , northwest , southeast, strange ,
sunshine , melon.
Step 4 reading
Get the students to act out the dialogue and then have them read the dialogue in silence. Then have them answer the questions below:
1) Who rings up Bruce’s father?
2) What do they say at the beginning of the dialogue?
3) How does Bruce’s father ask about the weather
4) What does Bruce say about the weather in Xinjiang?
5) What about the weather in Australia? What is Bruce’s father going to do ?
6) What do they say at the end of the dialogue?
(Show the important words of the dialogue on the blackboard and explain the important phrases in the dialogue, so that the students can act out the dialogue.)
Step 5 Practice
Ask the students: Which passage in the dialogue is about Question1,Question2? Which passage in the dialogue is about Question3? Which passage is about Question4? Which passage is about Question 5 and Question6? And show them by pointing the “important words” on the blackboard.
Then get them to act out the dialogue by using the “important words” on the blackboard.
Step 6 Practice
Get the students to do w.b. Exercise1.
Step 7 Listenin
Speech Cassette Lesson46 Part1. Play the tape for the students to listen.Get the students to answer the following questions:
Will most of North and South China have a cold wet day?
Step 8 New words and expressions
T: There are some new words and expressions in text. Do you
know?
Show the pictures about the new words on the slide one by one . or show them
the realia , or play the tape for the students, and get them to listen to the tape and then find out the meaning for new words. Then write them down on the blackboard. Get the students to read them together at last.

Get the students to read the text in silence. Then have them answer the questions below:
1) What will the weather be like in most of North and South China?
2) Will it be fine in the Northest?
3) What about the temperature in the daytime in the Northeast? What about the temperature at night?
4) What will the weather like in the Northwest?
5) What is the weather like in Beijing?
6) What is the weather like in tianjin?
(Show the important words of the text on the blackboard and explain the important phrases in the text, so that the students can retell the text.)
Step 10 Practice
Ask the students: Which passage in the text is about Question1? Which passage in the text is about Question2 , Question3, Question4? Which passage is about Question 5 ,Question6? And show them by pointing the “important words” on the blackboard.
Then get them to retell the text by using the “important words” on the blackboard.
Step11 Practice
Get the students to do w.b.Exercise2.
Step 12 Game
Get the students to play a game and find out who can finish it fastest.
Step 13 Sum-sup
Help the students go over the teaching aims and demands and show the “ poem” to the students. Then get them to read it .
Step 14 Homework
1) Finish off w.b. Ex..3
2) Write a passage like the text in Lesson46 Part2 to talk about the weather in Duozhu.
