Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Greeting
Greet the whole class as usual.
Step 2 Revision and Lead -- in
( Check the homework exercises . Teacher ask some Ss to read
aloud their letters about their holiday.)
T: First, I ' ll check your homework, Who can read us the letter
of your own about your holiday? Any volunteers ? OK, Xiao Chen ,
please.

Dear ---,
I hope you are very well . I ' m fine , but very tired . Last
month I went to Xi ' an by train with my parents . We visited many
places of interest . Finally we climbed Mount Hua . It is very high
. At night we stayed there in a hotel . The wind was very strong and
I could see the stars in the sky more clearer . The next morning we
get up very early to see the sun rise in the east . The sun was very
big and red , It was very cold but we were very excited.
I had a good time in the summer vocation , Now the school
begins and I think I should study harder than before .

T : Very good , thank you , Owing to time Limit , I can' t ask
all of you to read your letters , Now let us review some school
rules , What rules are the ones students can or must do ? What rules
are the ones students can' t or mustn't do ? For example , as you
know , students can' t leave the classroom and can' t eat food
during a lesson . That is to say , these are don' ts . Students must
go to class on time and Listen earnestly to a lecture in class .
These are dos , You should pay attention to dos and don' ts . They
are not verbs here . but are used as a plural noun in this special
phrase . After a while , I' ll give you an explanation about it .
Now , can you give me other school rules ?
( Collect as many school rules as possible , and divide them into
two columns , One belongs to dos, the other belongs to don' ts .
After that , don' ts in English , and in Chinese if necessary . Show
the following sentences on the screen.)
( Bb : Dos and Don' ts)

Four dos and four don' ts . (四要,四不要)
Don' t use too many Oh' s in your talk . ( --- 太多啊字 --- )
He writes b' s instead of d' s . ( --- 该写d的地方老写b )

T : Today we' re going to learn a dialogue , In the dialogue ,
the teacher told his Ss many dos and don' ts . First look at a
picture . ( Show the picture on the screen.)
T : What can you see in the picture ? Can you guess where they
are ?
S : Several students and a teacher . Maybe they are in the
science lab.
T : Yes . They are in the chemistry lab. You can also see many
other things , such as , cupboard , basin , Look at the new words
and phrases on the screen. Please read after the tape.
( Show the new words and phrases on the screen.)

Step 3 Reading
T: Read the dialogue quickly , and try to find out how many
instructions Mr Zhu gave students .
( After a few minutes , teacher asks some students to
answer the question.)
T: Who knows the answer ? Xiao Li, do you know ?
S: Yes , there are about 11 instructions .
T: Now read the dialogue again . This time you should make
a note of the instructions in your exercise-books and divide them
into Do' s and Don' ts .
( After a while , teacher may deal with some language points
as follows , Show them on the screen.)
T: Now you should pay attention to some sentences and the
usages of some key words in them ,Lood at the screen.

1 . alloow : allow sb, to do sth / allow sb , doing sth.
1) My parents allow me to play for a while after I
finish my homework every day .
2) Our teachers allow discussing in class.
2. once : conj. leading an adverbial clause
Once the teacher finds out the fact , we will be
punished.
3. unless ---- " if --- not --- ", leading an adverbial
clause
1) We will not make progress in our lessons unless we
study harder.
2) Stay home unless I phone.
4. What / how about ---
1) What about a cup of coffee ?
2) What about going to France this summer ?
5. make sure ------- to find out if sth . is true or to
check that sth. has been done.
1) --- Did you lock the door ? ---- I think so , out I'
d better make sure.
2) Mother looked into the room to make sure that Ruth
was asleep.

Step IV. Reading aloud
( Play the tape again for the Ss to / listen and repeat. )
T: Now I play the tape again , This time you can listen
and repeat . Pay attention to the pronunciation , particularly of
the news words.
( After that teacher may let the Ss practise the dialogue in
pairs. )
T: OK , Let ' s practise the dialogue , These two lines act
as Mr Zhu , these act as Jane , those act as Sun Yao , the rest act
as the whole class , You should look at your books before you speak
the words , but when you speak the words you should look at your
partners . Are you clear ? Now begin.
Step V. Practice and Consolidation
< Deal with Part 2 . Teacher does one or two examples
with the whole class , then lets the Ss work in pairs . Finally sum
up the different structures that are used for giving instructions )
T : Now look at Part 2. Let' s deal with it . I can give you
an example , Pay attention to how to use " Dos " and " Don' ts ,
After " Dos ",you can say " Don' t come in here without a teacher ,
""Don' t touch anything unless your teacher tells you to . " Are
you clear ? Let' s practise it in pairs
( Teacher can go among the Ss to check their practice .
After a while , sum up the instructions learned in this period . )
T: OK, Today we have learned many instructions .

Don' ts : Don' t --- No --- is allowed

T: Now please turn to Page 62. Let' s do the exercises.
