Lesson 24 Teaching Aims: 1. Learn and master the following Four skills put up , spend --- doing sth , far away 2. Review the future passive and its question form and negative form . 3. Review the format and writing of a notice . 4. Train the students ' ability of listening . Teaching Important Points : Train the students ' abilities of listening and writing . Teaching Difficult Points : Listening Comprehension Teaching Methods : 1. Listening , and answer activity to help the students to go through , with the listening material 2. Individual work or group work to make every student work in class. Teaching Aids : 1. a tape recorder 2. a projector . 3. the blackboard 4. a picture of a car Teaching Procedures : Step I : Greeting Greet the whole class as usual / Step II : Preparation for listening ( Teacher hangs a picture of a car on the Bb or draw a picture of a car on the Bb , Then lets Ss to revise the names of different parts .) T : Now look at the picture of a car . I point to its different parts , Please tell me its different names in English . ( Teacher points to its doors , lights , wheels , windows , back seats , front seats and the clock one by one , After that , teacher begins to say the following .) T : Today we are going to hear about someone who wants to buy a new jeep , Now please turn to page 132. Step III . Listening ; T : Pease look at the background at the top of the page first ( Teacher reads the background aloud to the Ss .) T : Look at the demand , No . 1. ( After a few seconds , teacher begins to play the tape and say the following .) Please listen to the tape carefully . Listening materials : Jackie : What was the jeep like ? Yang Pei : Very cheap ! It 's second hand , it 's about twelve years old and it' s not very good . It' s been on a sheep farm for the past seven years , There are a lot of things wrong with it . Jackie : Tell me more . Yang Pei : First of all , one of the front lights doesn't work and the driver' s window is broken. Jackie : Anything else ? Yang Pei : Yes ,one of the back seats is broken . Yang Pei : No , the clock doesn't work , You can' t lock the driver' s door , And there ' s a lot of smoke coming out of the back of the jeep . Jackie : I think it would cost a lot of money to put that right . Yang Pei : What do you think I should do ? Jackie : What do you think ? Yang Pei : I think I'll forget it . I' m sure I can find a better jeep somewhere . T : OK .Now please do exercise 1. First do it by yourselves , then you can discuss it in pairs , ( After a while , teacher says the following .) T : Now listen to the tape again . This time you should pay attention to the detailed information After that , you can do exercises 2 and 3. ( Teacher plays the tape again . After that teacher goes ,among the Ss to check their answers , At last teacher checks the answers with the whole class . If there are any answers that the Ss are not sure about , teacher may play the tape again .) Step IV . Checkpoint . T : That' s all for listening . Yesterday we learned the future passive . Who remembers its form ? ( Teacher asks one student to say its form and write it on the blackboard , then tells Ss the following .) T : Let' s do some more exercises . Look at the sentences on the screen. ( Show the following on the blackboard .) Change . the sentences into the future passive . 1. Where will the company build the factory ? 2. The company will not sell the cars in other countries . 3. Other companies will supply certain parts of the car . 4. Will the company give the workers new houses ? 5. The company won' t make new buses in the factory . ( Ask Ss to think them over for a while then check the answers with the whole class . Suggested Answers : 1. Where will the factory be built ( by the company )? 2. The cars will not be sold in other countries . 3. Certain parts of the car will be supplied by other companies . 4. Will the workers be given new houses ? 5. New buses won' t be made in the factory . ( After that , teacher Show the following phrases on the screen to review their meanings .) Useful expressions : at least , spend --- on sth / ( in ) doing ,--- by sea take a look at , begin --- with , far away , set up ( Bb : spend --- on sth / ( in ) doing sth ) T : Do you know these phrases ? What do they mean ? ( Ask s some students to say their meanings . In particular , emphasizes " spend --- on sth / ( in ) doing sth ," If time permits , teacher may ask Ss to make up some sentences with these phrases .) Step V . Word Study : T : Open your books , Please turn to page 24. Look at No 2. You may count how many blanks there are and how many words there are at the top , Ss : Eleven T : OK . Read the passage first , then complete the sentences with the right words . ( After that . teacher goes among the Ss ,to check their fillings . After a while , teacher says the following .) T : Have you finished it ? Let ' s deal with it together. 1. Teacher checks the fillings with the whole class .) Suggested Answers . 1. trip . 2. guide . 3 . airport . 4 hotel . 5. weekend . 6. point . 7. project . 8. company 9. opened . 10 . railway . 11 taxi Step VI . Writing T : Now look at No . 3 This exercise is mainly to review Notice . Do you remember the format of the notice ? S : Yes . T : OK . Notice should be clear and attractive . Please work in groups to produce a large notice . ( Model notice is omitted because of simplicity .) T : Please turn to page 85 . Look at exercise 3. Do it please . Then I'll check your answers . Suggested answers : Yes : 1, 3, 5, 6, No : 2, 4, Step VIII . Homework I . Review the whole unit again . II . Do exercises / and 2. on your exercise books . Suggested Answers : II . 1.
