Teaching procedures:
Step 1:由关系代词 that, which, who, whom 引导的限定性定与从句
Explanation: that, which, who, whom在从句中作主语或宾语
Fox example:
I saw the boy who lost his book..
Did you see the mail that/which came yesterday?
We found the old ship under the sea that we had talked about the year before.
They helped the girl whom they found in the street.
Explanation:以上为限定性定语从句,表明说话者所指的是哪些人或物。Who lost his book 表明的是丢书的那个男孩;that came yesterday 表明的是昨天收到的那个邮件;that we had talked about the year before 表明的是前年我们谈论过的那首轮船;who they found in the street表明的是他们在街上找到的那个女孩。其中1)2)句中的关系代词在从句中做主语,3)4)句中的关系代词在从句中作宾语。
Compare:
I saw the boy. He lost his book.
Did you see the mail? The mail came yesterday.
We found the old ship under the sea. We had talked about it the year before.
They helped the girl. They found her in the street.
要点:
注意上述例句中的who, whom, which和that所指代的人称代词或名词。
在限定性定于从句中,that可以用来纸人或物,which 用来指带事物;
在非正式场合也可以用that代替who描述人物;
在限定性定于从句中,如果whom, which或that 作宾语,可将其省略。
Consolidation
---.用that, which, who, whom合并下列各句中的简单句,时期成为含有限定性定于从句的复合句.
1) I bought a new car. It cost me 80,000yuan.
2) He is the man. You should know him.
3) They are the people. They offered Sue .
4) Their door has now been repaired. It was broken.
What has happened to the radio? It was on my bed.
He is the man. We met him in the hotel.
----填入正确的关系代词
1) I’d like to see the boy _____ you talked about yesterday.
2) He doesn’t like the book _____ is very thick.
3) Have you read the book _____ I lent to you?
4) She put on the glasses _____ are very expensive.
They found the key _____ I lost last week.
The students were doing the test _____ was very hard.

Step 2. Where, when, why或that 所引导的限定性定于从句
Explanation: where, when, why在从句中作副词。
Fox example:
The machinery factory where I worked 20 years ago is going to close down.
I still remember the time when we were very poor.
I will never forget the years when I was a worker in this car factory.
This is the room where Levis was given three injections as capital punishment.
Tell me the reason why/that he was killed.
Is there a reason he hasn’t turned up yet?
Explanation: 在限定性定语从句中,可用when表示时间,用where 表示地点,在reason 之后可用why或that 引导定语从句(关系副词有时也可省略)。
Compare:
The machinery factory is going to close down. I worked in the factory 20 years ago.
I still remember that time. We were very poor at that time.
I will never forget those years. I was a worker in this car factory in those years.
This is the room. Levis was given three injections as capital punishment.
Tell me the reason. He was killed for that reason.
Is there a reason? He hasn’t turned up because of that.
2.Consolidation:
----在下列短文中分别填入where, when, why或that.

----合并下列各句中的简单句,使其成为含有限定性定语从句的复合句。
That is the reason. He didn’t turned up for that reason.
The school is quite big. I taught in that school ten years ago.
April 1 , 2001 is the time. The mid-air collision took place over the Chinese sea.
I will never forget the day. I joined the UN peace-keeping force on that day.
We are going to Northeast China in September. The weather is not so hot then.
I don’t know the reason. She cried for that reason.
You can’t swim in the sea. There are a lot of sharks in the sea.
----将下列句子翻译成含有定语从句的句子
我永远不会忘记参军的那一天。
这就是我们安装空调的位置。
他无法解释昨天下午开会迟到的原因。
Step 3: summary: Ask the students to learn the grammar by heart and try to use it correctly.
Step 4: homework: Sort out the notebooks and get ready for the new lesson.
