Unit 5Can you come to my party Period One Language goal: Learn to say yes to invitations and say no to invitations and give reasons. Task1 Play a game: I can do this. Can you? (powerpoint) Task2 Chant I can, you can, everybody can. Sing, dance, jump and run. He can, she can, everybody can. Come, go, sit and stand. You can, they can, everybody can. Cook, clean, wash our pants. We can, you can, everybody can. Play, laugh and have a lot of fun. TASK3 Play a game? Ask students to count 1-2-1-2 around the room and remember their numbers .Then go around the room making invitations to individual students. Say Can you come to my party? Have the number 1s give Yes answers and number 2s gibe No answers plus a reason. One: Sure, I’d love to. Two: I’m sorry. I have to do my homework. Task4 Do 1a and 1b Sun Ning: Hey, Ted, Can you come to my party on Saturday afternoon? Ted: I’m sorry, I can’t, Sun Ning ,I have to help my parents. Sun Ning : Too bad, How about you, Carlos? Can you come to my party? Carlos: I’d love to. Sun Ning: Tim? Can you come to my party? Tim: When is it? Sun Ning: Saturday afternoon. Tim: Oh, no, I can’t. I have to study for a test. Sun Ning: What about you, Wilson? Wilson: Sorry, I have to go to the doctor. Sun Ning: Anna, can you come? Anna: I can’t , Sun Ning, I have to visit my aunt. Kay: I can’t either, Sun Ning, I have a piano lesson. Sun Ning: That’s too bad, Kay. Oh, maybe next time. What a small party! Task5 Group work A: Can you come to my party on Wednesday?
