Teaching Plan Subject Unit 7 Reading Class Class10, Grade 2 Pattern Reading comprehension Teacher Sunshine Purpose 1. Knowledge : To learn more knowledge about AIDS. 2. Ability : To develop students’ ability of reading and speaking. 3. Moral : To learn to care for the AIDS patients. Importance 1.Reading comprehension 2.Teach the students to treat the AIDS patients correctly and give love to them. Difficulty reading and speaking Method Students-centered and Communicative Tool Multi-media Date Dec. 1st Teaching process and content Activity Step I Organization: Greetings. Step II Lead-in First, ask the students : “ What date is it today?” ( The answer is World AIDS Day.) Then divide the class into two groups to compete with each other about the knowledge of AIDS. 1. What virus causes AIDS? ( HIV ) 2. HIV is something that a baby can get through the genes(基因) from its parents. ( T or F )3. Only bad people get AIDS. ( T or F) 4. List more than 3 ways via which HIV can not be transmitted: (cups,glasses,toilet seats,swimming pools,mosquitoes, other insects or giving blood) 5.When was the first case of AIDS discovered? ( In 1981 )6. In 2002, how many people living with AIDS in the world? ( 42 million ) Step III Reading procedure 1. Skimming Give the students several minutes to read the text and try to find the general idea of each paragraph. Para 1: Who is Xiaohua? Many children become infected with HIV every day. Para 5: What kind of life Xiaohua lives. Para 6: AIDS patients have to deal with people’s fear of the disease. Para 7: Learn to live with AIDS. 2. Scanning Ask the questions about the details in each paragraph to help the students understand the text further. 1. What kind of girl is Xiaohua? 2. What is AIDS? 3. How do people get AIDS? 4. How many children became infected with HIV in 2002? 5. Where is the disease spreading fast? 6. What kind of life does Xiaohua live? 7. Besides the disease, what the AIDS patients have to suffer from? Step IV Discussion Give the students two situations to talk about: 1.If you were infected with AIDS, what would you say to your classmates? 2. If one of your classmates were infected with AIDS, what would you say to him or her? Step V Homework 1. Go over the content of the text and finish the exercises in post-reading. 2. Try to find out the important language points in the passage. Speaking Look at the pictures Compete Read the text fast and try to get the general idea of each paragraph Answer the questions Discuss one of the situations Take notes |
