Period one: Warmimg up and speaking 一.Type of the lesson: New lessons. 二.Teaching Aims: 1.To improve the students’ speaking ability. 2.To practice expressing their opinion about sports. 3.To learn to use the following useful expressions. 4.To encourage the students to join in different sports club after class and then give some reports about their activities in oral. 三.Teaching focus: Improving the students’ skill of getting special information 四.Teaching aids: tape-recorder and picture 五. Teaching procedures: Step1: Lead in Q 1. Do you like sports? 2. Which sport do you like best? 3. Can you tell me what the most famous sports meeting is in the world? 4. How much do you know about the Olympic Games? Step II. Ask the students to do the quiz in the warming up. Step III. Are you tired? You should go out and have some sports. Doing more exercise is good for your health. Revise the names of sports you know. (relay race ,high jump, archery ,badminton, boxing, track and field, taekwondo, water polo, weightlifting, handball, cycling, field hockey, fencing, shooting, wrestling, horse-riding, synchronized swimming Step IV . T: Are you interested in table tennis? What about basketball? Which do you prefer, table tennis or basketball? 2. Ask the students to read the useful expressions carefully on page 52. Step V: Task I Make a report Situation: As you are a sport reporter, you want to do some research on the students’ favorite sports in your class. Please interview your classmates which sport they like best? Why? And then finish the table on page 52. Task II Tom and Lily are talking about their favourite sports and sportsman while watching the Olympic Games. Step VI: homework Task: Ask the students to organize different sports club. According to their own interests, they join in different sports club. Teaching procedures: Step2: Listening 1. Play the tape for the first time. Let the students be familiar with the voice and the speed of speaking . Q : What sport are they playing? 2. Look at the blackboard and get the answer. 3. Ask the students to listen to the report on the tape again and then work in groups to make a guessing. Q : Who won? What was the result? 4. Ask the students to listen again and then fill in the blanks by themselves. 5. Check the answers in pairs or in groups. 6. Read the passage and recheck the answers. Aims:-to help the students to understand the text by research and reading. -to improve the students’ reading and speaking ability. -to encourage the students to build up a good physique and foster their patriotic values. Preparation: to encourage the students to research some information about the Olympic Games Teaching aids: multimedia computer, tape recorder ********************************************************************* Procedure: I. Warming up: The T shows the picture of the Olympic Flag to the Ss. The teacher may ask a question like this: “Do you know the Olympic flag?” 1. T:---- Look at the picture. What can you see?-----A flag. Yes, It’s the Olympic Flag. ------What colour can you see? ------White ,black, yellow, green, red, blue.(Every flag in the world contains at least one of the colours in the Olympic flag.) ------Five rings join together.Can you guess what the five rings are? -------They are five continents. They are joined together as a sign of friendship. 2.Check their answer and see who is the best in answering the questions.(pre-reading on p.52. Ask students to discuss the questions in groups. Then show their answers.) II Reading: Step I : While reading: I. Ask the students to read the text and do T or F exercises on page 53. Divide the whole class into two groups: Team A and Team B, to have a compitition. II.Ask the students to listen and read the text again, and then fill in the form. You ask the people of Beijing what they know about the Olympic games so that you will tell the world that Beijing is the most qualified city to host the 2008 Olympic Games. They can make a dialogue in pairs then show the others. II. Discuss the following questions about the text you have just read. Q1. What’s the great meaning of our holding the 2008 Olympic Games? What do you think you prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games ? Ask the Ss to fill in the passage according to the text. The Olympic Games are held every 1 years. Athletes 2 all over the world 3 it. Assignment: Write a short passage about Olympic Games, using as much as possible that you have learned from this class. Period 4: Grammar Type of the lesson: New lessons. Teaching Aims: To enable the students to use the Future Passive Voice. ******************************************************************** Teaching procedure: Step 1:Lead in: Review the Passive Voice in different tenses. Describe the pictures. How often is Olympic Games held? When was the first Olympic Games held? What will happen in Beijing in 2008? T: Today we’ll learn the Future Passive Voice, which gives the idea that something will happen in the future. Step II 1.Ask the students to do exercise 1 on p 55, and find out the structure. 1) Individual work. 2) Pair work to check each other’s answers. 1) How to form the Future Passive Voice? 2. Period 6: Integrating skills Type of the lesson: Reading and writing. Teaching aim: 1. Help the students to understand the profile of Yao Ming. 2. Train the students’ writing ability by writing a profile. Content of the lesson: 1. Topic: famous sports stars 2. Functional sentences: writing profiles 3. Vocabulary: book P189. Teaching focus: Writing profiles. Teaching aids: tape recorder, computer, projector, worksheet. Moral aims: Ask the Ss to learn from some sports stars who have a strong will. *********************************************************** Task before the lesson: (The talk will be given 3 days before the lesson) Ask students to try to find out the information of their own favorite sports stars and fill in the form below. Step 2. Learn the passage about Yao Ming: I. Show some pictures and information about Yao Ming and ask the students to guess who he is. II. Ask students to open their books . Listen and read the passage about Yao Ming. While listening and reading, think about two questions: 1. How many points per game did he score in his last season with the Shanghai Sharks. 2. What is Yao Ming working hard to do? III. Check their answers. IV. Ask the students to read the passage loudly, Then discuss one question in groups of four. What makes him/her great? ( Why do people like him?) V. Listen to the student’s ideas and write on the blackboard. Step 3. Ask students to describe their favorite stars orally. (according to the task which teacher gave 3 days before) I. Ask students to come to the blackboard to tell some information about their favorite sports stars ,but not to tell his/ her name. Then ask other students to guess who he is talking about. II. Teacher presents her report on Deng yapping in written form. Step 4. Ask the students to write a profile of their favorite sports stars according to the information they have prepared. I. Give the students 5 minutes to write a profile of their favorite sports stars in the blank below their forms. II. In their profiles, they should include the information blow: 1.When and where was he/she born? 2. How much does he/she weigh and how tall is he/she? 3.What kind of sport does he/she play? 4. What titles or awards has he /she got? 5. Why do you like him/her?Teacher also gives an example of Deng yaping Deng ya ping is my favorite sports star. She was born on February 6th, 1973. She is 1.50metres tall and weighs 53 kg. She began to play ping pong when she was very young and in 1988 she was chosen to the National team. She has won 14 championships in the world matches and 4 gold medals in the Olympic Games. She does more than just playing sports. She sets a good example for others to follow. She is a player who works hard at her training and is strict with herself. So I think she is truly a great person. IV. Ask the students to read their profiles in the front of the classroom. Step 5. Homework: The sports meeting of our school has finished. Which player do you like? Would you please interview him/her and write a profile of him/her. Or you can choose one person you think is very great and write a profile of him/ her. ( He/she can be your parent , friend, classmate, or teacher.) |
