1．[问]What is the population of Germany?句中What可以换成How many吗？
[答]不可以。英语中询问人口的多少时，要用What's the population of... ? 或How large is the population of...? ，而不能用How many...或How much...提问。
回答人口的多或少时，要用large或small，而能不用many, few 或much, little。如：
The population of Japan is smaller than that of India.
2． [问]When their car becomes old they prefer to buy a new one rather than repair it. 句中的prefer... rather than... 应如何使用？除该句型外， prefer还常用于哪些句型？
[答] prefer... rather than... 结构中，prefer后接不定式，rather than后接动词原形，即prefer to do rather than do. 其含义为"宁愿......而不愿......"。如：
I prefer to die rather than tell you about it.
此外，prefer还主要用于以下句型：
（1）prefer to do / doing sth. "更愿意做某事"。如：
I prefer to stay / staying at home.
（2）prefer A to B 意为A与B 相比，比较喜欢A。其中to是介词，需接名词、代词或动名词。如：
I prefer (having) dumplings to (having) rice.
（3）prefer sb. to do sth. 意为"宁愿某人做某事"。如：
She prefers him to spend all day outside.
3． [问]That's worth more than two million yuan in China!worth一词应如何使用？
[答]worth是形容词，意为"值得......的；有......价值的"，在句中只能作表语，不能作定语。但它不能单独作表语，后面需接名词或V-ing形式。如：
The dictionary is worth fifty yuan.
This car is worth the price.
worth后跟V-ing形式时，要注意所用的动词必须是及物动词或相当于及物动词的动词短语。另外，表示"很值得......的"时，习惯用well修饰worth,而不用very或 quite等词。如：
This book is well worth reading.
