李慧 一、 教材分析: 本模块介绍南极洲的一些情况以及探险家的探险活动,使学生初步了解南极大陆的神秘,发挥对南极的想象,激发热爱科学、克服困难的探险精神。本课时是本模块的第四课时,主要处理Reading and Vocabulary(2)“How failure became success”(P6-7)的阅读内容,再通过这一阅读的铺垫材料练习一(P6)Ernest Shackleton在1914年《泰晤士报》的一则广告引出写作任务:实用性写作——申请信的写作方法。阅读材料是一篇典型的信息输入载体,写作被看作是输出的过程。尝试把传统的阅读课与写作课相结合,本着阅读训练为主,听、说能力为辅,最终以写作为途径,解决一个实际问题。 在这一课时中教学任务的完成过程主要以多媒体课件辅助教学,再以导学案配合教学,分为课前预习、课中导学、课后延展三个部分,力求使学生在学习过程中可以根据教师设计的学案,认真阅读教材,了解教材内容,然后完成相关任务。在培养学生的自主学习习惯的基础上,教师加以精讲点拨,以达到高效学习的目的。 二、 学情分析: 本课的教学对象为高中二年级的学生,学生年龄大多在17—18岁,已意识到英语的重要性,非常希望学好英语。他们通过前几年的学习,已经具备了一定的听说读写能力、自主学习能力和分析理解能力。但根据高中教学和高考的要求,仍需要进一步的提高,特别是阅读和写作能力。 三、 三维目标: 1. 知识与技能: 1)通过各种不同形式的阅读活动,提高学生获取、理解和运用信息的能力及分析问题的能力。 2) 掌握申请信的写作方法,完成写作任务。 2. 过程与方法: 1)通过阅读提高概括和略读、查读能力。 2)任务型教学,掌握申请信的写作方法和技巧。 3. 情感态度和价值观: 1)通过对阅读材料的理解,激发学生热爱科学、克服困难的探险精神。 2)通过导学案的使用,培养学生良好的学习习惯。 四、 教学重难点: 1. 教学重点: 1) 调动学生学习的积极性,使他们主动参与学习活动。 2) 能提取、筛选文章中的信息。 2. 教学难点:掌握申请信的写作方法,完成写作任务。 五、 教学方法: 1. 任务型教学。使学生以意义为中心,尽力调动语言和非语言资源; 2. 开展自主性学习的小组活动,使合作、探究与独立思考相结合。 六、 教学手段: 主要以多媒体课件辅助教学,贯穿整个教学过程,增加了直观性,加大了课堂密度,提高教学效果。另外以导学案辅助学生的自主学习。 七、 教学过程: Ⅰ导入新课: 通过一段有趣的动画视频(选自《冰河世纪》)引出本课的话题:南极(The Deep South),并让学生复习相关词汇。 (设计意图:以多媒体方式导入新课,形象直观,引起学生学习的兴趣。无须特别活动即可复习相关的词汇与话题。) Ⅱ阅读:Reading and vocabulary(2) 1. 快速阅读:Activity2 on Page6 What’s the meaning of the title “ How Failure became Success”? 2. 细读,回答问题: 1) How did they travel to the Antarctic? 2) Why did Shackleton want to go to the Antarctica? 3) Where did the men set up camp after the boat sank? 4) When did they set out for the Antarctic? 5) What happened to the Endurance? 6) Who were surprised when Shackleton and his men came down the mountain? 7) How long did they survive on the ice sheet? 8) How many hours did they have to walk over the mountains to reach the camp? 学生通过各种不同形式的阅读活动,提高学生获取、理解和运用信息的能力。 (设计意图:在学生预习的基础上,围绕话题和文章,指导学生进行阅读技巧训练。包括讨论分析文章结构。这一阶段是学生对语言知识、语言材料进行加工、处理的过程。在学生预习的基础上,围绕话题和文章,指导学生进行阅读技巧训练。) Ⅲ回复招聘启事(Ernest Shackleton在1914年《泰晤士报》的招聘广告): 引导学生处理Activity1 on Page6,对Ernest Shackleton在1914年《泰晤士报》的一则广告如何进行回应,从而为下一阶段的写作学习进行铺垫,引出写作任务(申请信)。 1.Read the advertisement and Say why you would/wouldn’t reply to it. (Activity1 on Page 6) 学生阅读这则广告,讨论要不要进行回复。(通过讨论,使学生自然复习应用词汇。) 2.Imagine that you are a man who wants badly to join the crew, and you will write a reply to the advertisement. (Activity1 on Page 10) (如果你想申请加入他们的探险行动,怎样回复这则广告。) 学生讨论过程中,可以通过大屏幕,给出如下信息: 1)What you are good at: I’m good at taking photos. 2)Why you want to go there: I want to help record the journey. 3)Why you will be a helpful member: I can take photographs of the journey. You can add: 1)Your health condition: I’m healthy and strong. 2)Quality: I have the qualities of determination, bravery and loyalty. 3)Personality: I’m good at cooperation and help. (设计意图:将阅读材料与写作任务自然结合,帮助学生运用所给信息,在小组内合作完成这则申请信。以小组的自主合作学习、讨论的活动方式为主。学生在所布置的任务中进行小组交流、讨论,并在交流中学会取长补短,互相学习,达到同伴互助的目的。另外,通过大屏幕给出一些可利用的补充信息及表达方式,降低任务难度,使学生在开始接触写作任务时不恐惧,不无所适从,在小组内可以顺利完成这一铺垫活动。) 3. 学生在小组内完成回复后,进行简单的点评,并通过大屏幕给出一篇范文。 (设计意图:对学生的任务完成情况及时加以总结反馈,使学生能够学有所获。) Ⅳ实用性写作(申请信 ) 1. 对申请信的书写给以简单的指导。 写申请函,可以用以下形式开门见山地表明自己的意图。e.g.: I have learned from China Youth that a typist is needed in your company.I want to apply for the job and work with your company... 介绍人物、地点、学习、生活习惯及新闻报道等方面的作文都可以使用开门见山的方式来写。这样写出的文章读起来自然流畅。例如: I am a boy of 15.I have many hobbies,of which collecting stamps is my favorite... 2. 介绍申请信函的写作模版。 Your address Month, Date, year Receiver's address Dear ..., I am extremely pleased to hear from you./ to see your advertisement for the position in .... And I would like to write a letter to tell you that.../ I am confident that I am suitable for the kind of the job you are advertising. .../ I feel I am competent to meet the requirements you have listed. On the one hand, .... On the other hand, .... I am enclosing my resume for your kind consideration and reference. I shall be much obliged if you will offer me a precious opportunity to an interview. I will greatly appreciate a response from you at your earliest convenience/ I am looking forward to your replies at your earliest convenience. Best regards for your health and success. Sincerely yours, X X X 3. 学生练习:写一封求职信。 求职信:求职任秘书和打字员 Applying for the Position of Secretary and Typist 【内容提示】 假定你叫李华,是北京一中的学生。六月份你就要高中毕业了。你对英语特别感兴趣,尤其擅长口语和打字。你想在暑假期间能有机会在广州南方饭店做一段临时工,因为那儿是广州最著名的饭店之一。那里服务周到,得到了外宾的普遍赞扬。恰好,你从报纸上看到一则广告,那里正招聘秘书兼打字员。于是你想碰碰运气,以便能有机会练习口语和打字。现在你给饭店经理Mr. Cooper写封求职信,其中要说明以下几点: ①介绍自己的学习程度和爱好。 ②说明自己为何有兴趣到贵饭店工作。 ③说明自己愿意担任的工作。 ④希望对方能录用你。 注意以下词语的使用: 1) as my resume states 正如我的简历所说的那样 2) enclose one's resume 附上某人的简历表 3) have an opening(职位)有空缺 全篇词数:150—180。 4. 点评反馈。 (设计意图:通过前期的输入,学生对于申请信的书写有了一定的了解,在此基础上,对于信的格式、内容及各部分的构成再加以指导,之后再给一个申请信的写作模版,让学生全面掌握高考写作中的一个重要内容——申请信的写作方法及注意事项,最后进行输出,自己练习写作,而后给以及时的点评反馈,遵从学生的语言习得规律。) Ⅴ课后延展:(作业) (06年全国卷)假定你是李华,亚洲冬季运动会将在你居住的地方举办,现正在招募志愿者,你希望成为其中一员。请按要求用英文给组委会写一封信。内容应包括: 1. 个人情况:年龄,性别,学历 2. 个人条件:英语好,爱好体育,善于交际,乐于助人,熟悉本地情况 3. 承诺:提供最佳服务 注意: 1. 词数100左右,开头语已为你写好 2. 可适当增加细节,以使行文连贯 3. 生词:申请—apply (v.) application(n.) 志愿者—volunteer Dear Sir / Madam: My name is Lihua. I would like to work as a volunteer for the Winter Asian Games… (设计意图:训练学生的写作能力,也是培养学生对刚学过的知识进行反思、运用的能力,同时通过学生的作业对本节课的教学目标的落实、教学重难点的突破进行反馈,使教师在后面的教学中吸取经验,改进不足。) 八、板书设计: 九、教学反思: 本课试图将阅读课和写作课进行有机的结合,以素质教育为目的,结合教材重点、难点及英语学科特点,利用多媒体辅助教学,增加了直观性和趣味性,加大了课堂密度,提高了教学效果。从阅读和写作等方面使学生得到锻炼,在愉快、轻松的氛围中学到知识,达到初步运用英语进行表达的能力。充分发挥学生的自主能动性,以让学生快速阅读解决问题,概括文章主旨,引导学生既解决问题,又掌握一些实用的英语阅读技巧和学习策略。这样既满足了学生的求知欲,又实现了他们获得学习策略的愿望。另外在教学中以导学案辅助教学,使学生在课前有预习,课中有导学,课后有延展,达到教与学的统一。在第一次接触申请信的写作任务时,以小组合作学习为主,使全体学生都有锻炼的机会,不同层次的学生的能力都得到不同的发挥,在同伴互助的过程中有所收获。同时在整个写作练习指导过程中,注重及时对学生的任务完成情况进行过程性评价,反馈练习结果。但在实际教学过程中,对时间的把握还有所欠缺,最后一个写作任务让学生练习、准备的时间稍显仓促,英语学习成绩中等偏上的学生基本能够完成相关任务,但有些同学在课上时间里还不能完成整个写作任务,对他们来说,对所学知识进行消化的过程太快了,另外写作任务本身对他们来说就是难点。因此在今后的教学中更应注意对不同层次学生的因材施教,使各个层面的学生都能得到相应的发展。 附:教学流程图 另附:导学案 Book 8 Module 1 Deep South (Reading & writing)导学案 Ⅰ课前预习: Reading and vocabulary (2) (Page 6---8) (Ⅰ)短语翻译: 1. 目标是,目的在于 ________________ 2. 回答 ________________ 3. 想出 ________________ 4. 许诺 _______________ 5. 进入视野,看得见 ________________ 6.碎开,粉碎 ________________ 7. 冒险 ________________ 8.放弃,让出 ________________ (Ⅱ)短语辨析: 1. in/within sight out of sight catch sight of at the sight of … lose sight of lose one’s sight in the sight of sb. = in sb.’s sight 从某人的观点来看,在某人看来 2. break down break into break off break through break out 3. give in give away give off give out 4. set about set fire to set against set forth set an example set in set apart set off set aside set on set back set out set beside set to set down set up (Ⅲ)Language Points in reading part: 1.On 8th August, 1914, 27 men who had replied to an advertisement in The Times boarded a ship leaving for the Antarctic. reply to 回答, 回应 She asked me why I hadn’t replied to her letter. 2.
