The new English teaching curriculum emphasizes the holistic comprehension of language usage, which is based on the language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learning stratagy,and culture sympathy. What can we do to respond with the demands and develop all kinds of new methods facilitating our students' forming comprehensive language ability and their further learning ? At the first place, we should give some advice for them to observe and help them form interests.For example, provide some English-Chinese literary novels, listen to English songs and lead them to watch carefully the advertisements and some instructions and make notes . We should also urge and sometimes encourage them to ask for the upper students and some foreign teachers to help with their oral English. When meeting some foreign tourists ,they can start by making simple daily greeting and then heading gradually to communicate by using some words focused on specific topic they are familiar with. It's not an easy job for the people to communicate by a foreign language ,so as we teachers. Therefore ,a sound storage of language materials is important, we can ask them to recite some proverbs and idioms in case they can use whenever possible. Secondly, we teachers must make phenomenon of class active by organizing in a set of teaching expressions, and we should design some activity full of interest and educational meaning as well. we should make it clear that it's very crucial for the students to be "exposed" in standard expressions of English. It’s one of the most important insurance to stimulate the students' motives and the fundamental necessity to develop their ability in the future. We can give three examples as teaching in the following. 1.When teaching the interrogative form of the past tense ,I have a student acting as the policeman detecting the thief which robbed Mr.Jones’ house between 12:oo and 3:00 last night. Among the suspects are four students, whom are questioned the thing in turn they did upon the moment the stealing happened. When two groups of people has played the teacher asked every student to prepare one or two answers in the rehearsal before the class, a student was told to answer, “I was in the library. I was choosing some books.”When class begins ,the policeman questioned the class ,and let the student make judgments on which is the thief, because it’s not possible for the suspect to go to the library at midnight, so the thief is found out . And the students uses the sentence pattern: what were you doing last night? They are playing the incident like happening in the 2.After being taught all the words of color ,one group of students can carry items with bright colors and let the students ask each other or even questioned one by one by the students on the class, or divided groups can compete each other on the numbers. Finally, the model which wins can walk on the stage and introduce their items. 3.When the words in each unit are finished, we can organize a word competition where we choose a representative from each group in front of the blackboard carrying the phoneme symbol cards .The teacher stands before them and present some words for his group members to speak out and the representative listen and hold one card which match with the phoneme in the word. If it is right, score .We sum up numbers and the group which guess the most numbers win. So most of the phonemes can be checked and remembered in a way which is not boring by this activity. Furthermore, we can organize other activities after English class, seeking other access for students to learn English . We can ask our schoolmates from some colleges of foregin language , foreign teachers to give some talks. In the school we may make a contest on designing English handwritten newspaper for students to give them a chance to perform their versatile ability. And we can select some good examples to form a good blackball newspaper. In order to create more chance to perform ,we can have students with good accent to cover some school news in our school radio programe.We need further discover methods for students in the school. Besides,we should get the students into good habit of handwriting, correcting , and the habit of revision.The students are reqiured to keep homework tidy , not scramble and without spoiling.Secondly,after class we shoud conciously make our mistakes and others’mistakes corrected at any time.It is a good way to learn and remenber, because it improve the speed of reflecing. Students can do exercises only after they revise theirr lessons.We should request as quick as possible, and don’t give any chance of disobeying. We now confront a challenge and as “no pain, no gain” we have to tap our potentials and overcome difficulties.Besides our own effort,we should also make the others’ wisdom converged.We should grasp the opportunity and adopt a variety of ways in improving the students’ intersts.If we can match our persistance of action with the wisdom of teaching,we certainly will contribute to the education of our hometown. 相关链接:教学论文
