The third period----Word power Teaching Aims: Review the words related to qualities for success. Teaching Important Points: 1. Help the students master the words. 2. Answer: This means I never give up, even when things go wrong. However much I get knocked back, I just try again. Adj: perseverant Examples: Perseverance is a good quality to success. I am perseverant. Ambition: Adj: ambitious Example He had great ambition when he was young. As he grew old, he wasnˇt that much ambitious. Confidence: adj: comfident I wasnˇt good at English at first. Then I got confidence from my English teacher. And now I am very confident. Motivation: adj: motivated Examples: The president told us that we needed motivation if we wanted to do things well. After his lecture, I got motivated. Energy: adj: enegetic Examples: John is full of energy. He is energetic. enthusiasm: adj: enthusiastic Examples: When I met him, I was very much touched by his enthusiasm. She takes an enthusiastic attitude towards life. Interpersonal skills Examples: A good manager needs high interpersonal skills. Organization Examples: Our monitor is a man of organization. He can do most of the things that our head-teacher should do. Sense of humour Adj: humorous Examples: The politician has a good sense of humour. He is a humorous man. Help Adj: helpful Examples: If you often give others help, you are a helpful person. Step IV A game Who can get the most peaches? Try to find the opposite of the given words.
