情景作文 1. … … As you said in the letter, the public transport of Beijing in 1995 wasn’t really good enough. Great changes have taken place since then. Now Beijing has 24,000 buses, almost three times as many as that of the year 1995, making a great improvement to public transportation. In the year 2008, the number of buses is expected to reach 32,000. As with that, bus routes are expanding too. Now we have 750 different routes and will have 820 in 2008. When you come to Beijing during the Olympics, you can travel everywhere on a bus since the length of the highways has been increasing these years at an amazing speed. What we have now is far more than twice that of the year 1995, and in 2008 there will be 20,000 km. What is more, underground railways and city rails are more satisfactory. Now their length has reached 114km and we’ll have another 200km in the year 2008. It is believed that it will be much better when the 29th Olympic Games takes place in Beijing in 2008. Yours ever, Li Ming
2. Dear Peter, … … As you said in the letter, public transport in Beijing in 1995 wasn’t really good enough. As far as I’m aware, there were only 8200 buses with 520 bus routes at that time. And the length of highway was just 8000 kilometres while the total length of underground railways and city-rails was 54 kilometres. But our city has changed greatly in the last decade. Now, the number of buses has already gone up to 24000 and 230 more bus routes have been set up. What’s more, the highway has been extended to 19000 kilometres and the length of underground railways and city-rails has more than doubled to 114 kilometres.
I believe the situation in 2008 will be more optimistic. Now, our city railways and city-rails are under construction. In 2008, not only will the number of buses be expected to be 32000, but also there will be 820 bus routes across the city. The experts have also pointed out that 1000 kilometres of highway and 186 kilometres of railways and city-rails will come into being. At that time, Beijing will take on a brand new look to welcome friends around the world. It is believed that it will be much better when the 29th Olympic Games takes place in Beijing in 2008. Yours ever, Li Ming
3. Dear Peter, … … The number of the buses has increased a lot. It has climbed from 8200 in 1995 to 24000 now and it’s expected that in 2008 there will be nearly 4 times as many as that in 1995. Great changes have also taken place in bus routes. 230 new routes have been set in the recent 11 years and in 2008, their number will become 820. You can have more choices to get everywhere you like. Nowadays, Beijing’s people are busy_building highways to increase their length. The aim is to have 20, 000 km by 2008, 2.5 times of the number of 11 years ago and believe it or not, so far we have just had 1000 km left to build in the coming 2 years. Maybe the greatest change is our underground railways and city rails. In 1995, we had only 54 km rails, but today we have twice that and when the Olympic games is held, we will have 6 times that figure. I think it’s quite amazing. With these improvements, traveling in Beijing will be quite convenient, contributing to hosting a successful Olympic Games. I’m sure you will enjoy the improvement very much. It’s believed that it will be much better when the 29th Olympic Games takes place in Beijing in 2008. Yours ever, Li Ming
4. Dear Peter, … … As you said in your letter, public transport in Beijing in 1995 really wasn’t good enough. But now, Beijing has a highly developed transport system. Today, buses are the most common form of transportation for citizens. We have 24, 000 buses in 2006, about 3 times more than that in 1995. In 2008 we’re going to have 32, 000 buses. Meanwhile, the number of bus routes are now fast increasing. Compared to 520 routes in 1995, we have 750 routes now and it’ll be 820 in 2008. Besides buses, the highway in Beijing is more developed than before. The length of highway was 8000km in 1995 while now the number is 19000 km. It will reach 20, 000km in 2 years. The most convenient and comfortable transportation now is railway. The length of underground railways and city-rails was 54 km 11 years ago and has been extended to 114 km now. In 2008, it’ll be 300 km. In fact, you will have many choices if you want to travel in Beijing. It’s believed that it will be much better when the 29th Olympic Games takes place in Beijing in 2008.
