Activity one: 关系副词when \ where \ why的基本用法 1. when: e.g. April the first is the day when people make fun of others. =April the first is the day on which people make fun of others. I forget the year when he was born. = I forget the year in which he was born. ★小结:when 引导的定语从句,在从句中用作______状语, 其先行词须常是day,year,time等表示________的名词。when可用on which, in which, at which, during which等代替。 注意:表示时间的先行名词,若定语从句不是缺状语,而是缺少______或是______,要用which或that来引导定语从句。 I'll never forget the time (which / that / ×) I spent on campus which作spent的宾语 2. where: e.g. This is the house where he lived two years ago. =This is the house in which he lived two years ago. This is the town where (in which) I spent my childhood. He has reached the point where a chang is needed. ★ 小结:where引导的定语从句,在从句中用作________状语。其前先行词必须是表示_______的名词。如place,house等。另外含有地点意义的_______名词,如situation,point等。常可由in which, on which, at which,等取代。 注意:与when类似,并非凡是表示地点的名词作先行词,都得when来引导定语从句,这得看关系词在从句中充当的成分。若定语从句缺主语或宾语,要用which或that引导定语从句. e.g. This is the town which I told you about before. Do you remember the days when we worked together? ★ 小结:引导定语从句用关系代词还是关系副词,需要理解从句中的句子成分,如果从句中缺少_____或_______,那么用关系代词,如果不缺主语或宾语,则用____________________引导定语从句。准确判断先行词在定语从句中的成分(主、谓、宾、定、状),也就能正确选择出关系代词/关系副词。 即时训练:选择适当的关系代词或关系副词把下列句子补充完整。 1. Activity three: “介词+关系代词(that/ which)”结构 “介词+关系代词“是一个普遍使用的结构 (1) “介词+关系代词“可以引导限制性定语从句,也可以引导非限制性定语从句。“介词+关系代词“结构中的介词可以是 in, on, about, from, for, with, to at, of, without 等,关系代词只可用whom或 which,不可用 that 。 (2) from where为“介词+关系副词“结构,但也可以引导定语从句。例如: We stood at the top of the hill, from where we can see the town..
