Now I’d like to tell you something about another festival in China. Double Ninth Festival lies on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month in China. Traditionally, people celebrate the festival by climbing mountains and eating double-ninth cakes, both of which represent a long life. Since 1989, the day has also been Old People’s Festival, when, besides traditional activities, old people go on organized tours to enjoy beautiful nature and move their muscles. On the other hand, younger people use the occasion to show their respect for the old by doing everything possible to help them. It’s one of China’s traditions to respect the old. I think we young people should give a hand to any old people in need of help, not only on Old People’s Festival, but at other times as well. As to myself, I’ll try to help my grandparents at home, and will go to help those in the House for the Aged from time to time.
