I’m very glad to tell you something about Chaozhou Book Fair. On the morning of December 14th,2007,the opening ceremony of Chaozhou Book Fair was opened at the People’s Square . More than 6000 people from all walks of life in Chaozhou took part in the ceremony, including students from primary , high schools and universities. After the ceremony , there were many activities, such as donating books to schools in the rural areas and visiting the Book Fair. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a good idea for our city to hold the Book Fair. It offered many excellent books for readers, made it convenient to buy books and fulfilled people’s expectations of increasing their knowledge. Looking forward to your reply again. Yours truly, Li Hua
第二节 读写任务(共1小题,满分25分) The writer tells us that learning to study is not difficult if we are willing to learn and enjoy it. He also gives us good advice on how to learn well.(31words)
On this point, I agree with the writer completely. You can learn well only if you are willing to learn. Once I heard a beautiful song on the radio and I wanted to sing it myself. I borrowed the tape and sang after it whenever I could. Soon I could sing it. From this I know I can learn something well if I put my heart into it. Besides, learning is of great fun. There are, obviously, many interesting things in your subjects and they can make you feel excited. Knowing the best way to study will help you to be a better learner. By spending your time properly, you can do your homework more quickly. Review and preview are very important in learning. To put it simply, do remember learning is not a difficult thing if you focus on it.(141 words)
听力材料 (Text 1) M: Can you tell me how to get to the bank ,please? W: Which bank? There are two: the Allied Irish Bank and the Bank of Ireland. M: I have an AIB card and I want to get some money from the bank. W: You need to go to the Allied Irish Bank which is near the local shopping center, Dunnes Stores. M: How do I get there? I don't know anything about this area. W: Cross the road and turn left at the other side. Walk along the sidewalk until you reach the traffic lights. You will see a shopping center on the right hand side. Keep going straight for about 100 meters and the bank is to your left. M: I see. How far is it from here? W: It's about a five minutes' walk from here. M: Thank you very much.
(Text 2) (Telephone rings.) M: Hello? W: Hi, Mel. It's me, Kathryn. M: Kathryn! Why didn't you call? I've been worried about you. W: No excuse. I've just been totally busy. M: Well, how are you doing? How's flight school? W: Mm ... there are a few things I don't like, but overall it’s extremely good. M: Well, tell me about it. W: OK. Let's see ... I hate getting up at 5 am, but I have to, because we start at 6:30 every morning. Uh, the food turns me off, and I can't stand my roommate. She drives me crazy. But I love my classes. M: Have you flown yet? W: I've been up in a plane with my instructor, but I haven't been at the controls. I might do that this week, though. I tell you, I'm fond of flying. M: How's New Orleans? W: Well, I don't care much for the weather. Too hot and wet. But the city’s great. It’s a fascinating place. M: Sounds like you did the right thing going there. W: No doubt about it. Hey, Mel, I've got to go. Class starts in five minutes. M: OK. Hey, write me, will you? W: I promise. Bye.
(Text 3) One summer, a library in Texas was having a terrible problem. The library had grown too big for the building and they had to move to a new library across town. Everything was finished and paid for, but they discovered that they hadn't left enough money to move their mountains of books across town. Even the cheapest moving company was going to charge several hundred thousand dollars to pack and transfer the books. What could they do? Finally one smart librarian had a bright idea. She said that the move was going to take all summer and during that time the library would be closed. Why not ask everyone to come in and borrow 20, 40 or 100 books? At the end of the summer they could return them to the new library. The plan worked beautifully and not only did the library save a lot of money people read a lot more books. Think of an unusual solution to a problem you've faced, or tell another partner about a problem you're facing at the moment. Try to get possible solutions.
