Name Li Ming Age 18 Profession Student About the accident Time At 7 am. May 18th, 2007 (1分) Place At the turning of Northern Sanyuan Road (1分) Any other witness Other 5 passers-by Brief description of the accident & possible causes (23分) I saw the traffic accident on my way to school. It happened at about 7:00 on the morning of May 18th. It was then raining heavily. Two boys were riding and talking with each other, with an umbrella in one hand and the handle in the other. As they turned right at the turning, a car came out at a high speed in the opposite direction. Both the boys and the driver acted quickly, but it was too late. One of the boys was hit by the car and badly hurt.
In my opinion, there are several reasons for this tragedy. First, the boys were absent- minded. They were talking all the way, dangerously holding an umbrella while riding. Second, the bad weather and the slippery road made it hard for the driver to bring the car to a full sudden stop. Last, the big tree made the road conditions invisible when they were going to make a turn.
录音材料 Text 1 M: How do you normally spend your spare time? W: I used to enjoy stamp collecting and coin collecting, though I don’t do any of that now. I read a lot of books and listen to music constantly. I also play badminton occasionally with my neighborhood friends. Text 2 W: Do you want to go to the Waston’s party? M: All right. Do you think we can leave the children at your mother’s house? W: No. She’ll be out of town. But our neighbor said she would help us. Text 3 M: May I watch TV after supper, Mum? W: Do you mean you can pass the exam tomorrow? Text 4 W: Let’s have breakfast together on Saturday. M: OK, come to my house. My family always has a Japanese-style breakfast. We usually have fish, flee, and soup. Sometimes we have a salad, too. And we always have green tea. W: Fish for breakfast? That’s interesting. Text 5 M: Monica is so loud. And she is crying all the time. W: You’re spending all your time in front of the stupid box. Do go out and breathe some fresh air. Text 6 M: Excuse me, is this a travel agency? W: Yes, it’s. What can I do for you, sir? M: Great! Do you have any interesting programs for the weekend? W: Oh, yes. We have lots of interesting programs for the weekend. You don’t like long trips, do you? M: No, we don’t. We just feel like relaxing ourselves a little bit after a week’s work. W: Then, what about Long Beach? You can swim, lie in the sun on the soft sand and play beach volleyball. M: Sounds nice. What about the price? W: $280. M: I’ll talk it over with my wife. Text 7 W: Jason, you have a very unusual job. Can you tell me something about it? M: Yes, well, I' m a street performer. So I bring my music to the square and dance. I love dancing, so it’s a great job for me. But I don’t like coming out if it’s too cold or too wet. So I do most of my work in spring and summer. Lots of people come in summer and if they like my dancing, they put money in the hat. Some people give me a lot, some just a few pence. W: Do you get a lot of money? M: Some days I do. In summer, I can get over a hundred a day. W: A hundred pounds a day? M: Yes, maybe more. But next year, I’m going to try in Paris. It’s difficult here with the police sometimes, and I don't like thinking about the police all the time. You know, they are going to tell me I' m making too much noise. People tell me it’s much better in Paris. W: Well, all the best. I think you are a great dancer. M: Thanks. Text 8 W: Charles, do you know how this telephone works? The sign says you can use it for long-distance calls, but there’s no slot to put the money in. M: Oh, well, this kind of phone doesn’t take coins. You have to buy a special card you put in the slot down there at the bottom. W: I’ve never heard of that before. M: Here, I have one myself. W: Where did you get it? M: At the information office on campus. It cost ten dollars. I think you can get them directly from the phone company, too. W: Do you save money by using the card? M: No, not really. But it’s pretty convenient. W: I guess I’ll go over to the office and get one now. M: Here, just take mine. W: Thanks. Are you sure you don't mind? M: No problem. Text 9 W: Hi, glad to find you at home. Here are the books I borrowed last month. M: Huh? You know, my company laid me off along with 25 other staff. W: The economic situation must be quite bad. Any response from the other companies that you previously applied to? M: One called this morning. I’ve arranged for an interview for this Friday. W: That’s a good start. A job interview allows you an opportunity to impress the employer. M: The most important thing to me is that I earn a high salary with Some good benefits. W: A good work environment can make your daily job more enjoyabl
