Should free music downloads be banned?
In our English class, we had a discussion about whether free music downloads should be banned. Some of them think that it is a common practice to download free music from the Internet. So it is against people’s wish to ban free music downloads. They argue that free music downloads not only enrich our life but also are good for the music industry, because they help increase the popularity of music.
However, others do not agree. They think it is not advisable to allow free music downloads. For one thing, free music downloads are against the intellectual property rights of musicians. For another, they have a negative impact on the sales of musical products, such as CDs, which may do harm to the whole music industry.
From my point of view, we'd better ban free music downloads in order that the music industry can develop in a healthy way. Who would like to invest in the music industry without good returns?
