一、努力使用高级词汇及短语
灵活运用较高级词汇是语言能力较强的重要标志，表达时尽量使用一些较高级的词汇和短语，能有效地提高表达层次，使语言不至于单纯和幼稚，也是高考时填分加彩的亮点。例如：
1、副词“非常”的表达：非常重要extremely important非常抱歉awfully sorry，非常清楚perfectly clear，非常幸福wonderfully happy.
2、表达“愿意做某事”be willing to do, be happy to do be pleased to do, would like/love to do
3、表达“把…看作”consider …as/to be, regard… as, view …as, look on/upon… as
二、巧妙运用连词，使上下文连贯
从行文需要出发巧妙运用连词及过渡语同样可以给文章增色，使文章浑然一体，语句流畅。
1、 在同一话题上补充内容：what’s more, besides, moreover, furthermore, also, as well等
⑴ I don’t want to go; besides, I’m too tired
⑵ The rent is reasonable, and moreover, the location is perfect.
2、 表示转折关系：but, however, yet, instead, on the other hand, on the contrary, nevertheless, otherwise, after all等
⑶ The young man didn’t enjoy his old job. On the contrary, he finds the new job very interesting.
⑷ It’s too hot to go for a walk; let’s go swimming instead.
3、 表示因果关系：since, as, because, so, thus, therefore, hence, as a result, so that等
⑸ These birds are very rare and therefore protected by law.
⑹ I don’t want to disturb her as she’s at an important meeting.
4、 表示条件关系：if, on the condition that, so/as long as, unless, or else, or 等
⑺ we should serve the people so/as long as we live.
⑻ I’ll come on the condition that John is invited
5、 表示时间关系：when, while, after, before, until, as soon as, the moment, the minute, immediately, no sooner…than, hardly/scarcely…when, lately, (ever)since, from then on, afterwards, soon等

6、 表示特点的顺序关系：above all, first of all, firstly, first, secondly, second, then, next, finally, in the end.等
